CASE STUDIES

P, age 4 looks like a normal child, she is cute, she plays and she laughs. But her language skills are poor as she utters a few words repeatedly like mamma, papa, khaana and khelna. She can understand what a person is saying, but she is unable to reciprocate her feelings into words. She does all basic day to day activities without problem, but can’t utter many words as she nods her head to indicate a yes or a no. Due to P’s underdeveloped expressive language skills, she has difficulties in school, and is unable to interact with kids of her age. She is diagnosed with expressive language disorder, her weekly counselling and daily speech development therapy was started. Her parents were assured she is a great girl and if they support her in her treatment, she will improve with time.
