14 steps to find happiness

“Happiness is not something you find at the end of the road… it is here now.”

Personal Note– Many times in my small life I contemplated is life worth living, what is the point of my existence, is there really a god and lastly are people worth loving? Don’t read ahead if you haven’t asked yourself these questions in your life without finding an answer.

Here is a how I found something a lot like happiness.

1) Acceptance- It is one of the keys to live a life which embarks you on a journey worth travelling. Accept who you are first, don’t lie to yourself to feel better about your life. It’s never late the day you accept who you are will be the day your life will make sense to you. “life is lived forwards but it is understood backwards”

2) Self Introspection- We often find solace by criticizing others, it is true, and in order to feel better about our self we find flaws/negatives in others and judge them to feel better. Just for a day observe your own behavior, do your actions in the entire day manage to put a smile on someone’s face? We see negatives in others, when we are trying to hide ours own. The soul is naked, you can’t cover it with superficial belongings (clothes included).

3)Living the day- We often replay the past events of our life and try to picture a perfect happy outcome of what could have been. Congratulations you just spent the present time, which you have in hand to make an impact on the world, to imagining about something whose ripples of memory has made you a shadow of your own self, no matter what that shadow does  it won’t change anything concrete.

4)Don’t focus on the result- Enjoy the journey, the struggles, the failures and most importantly the hidden learning in every turn of life. “People become great through their journey, they are not born great” Focus on being a great human being, the best compliment in life is being called a good person, a genuine human being.

5)Believe in God- This world is a test of our character and the only judgment that matters is of the universe. In an ideal situation where everything works in our favor, the true character of us in not really tested, we are tested when we have a phase in life when we are all alone and facing a situation where we fail to see any hope. If you manage to connect with God during this period, nothing else matters, you find a way to come out of that dark hole you are in and convert that same into a springboard launching you towards an infinite growth of your character.

6)Channelize your Anger- Find a way to channelize your negative emotions like anger. Go for a run, a boxing session or try doing a task which has previously challenged you and overpowered your efforts, you will be surprised how quickly the last one can will tone your anger down. I one tried to solve a rubix cube, couldn’t solve it but understood one thing , “anger clouds our judgment”.

7)Self-Respect- Shape your actions in a way that you always remain high in your own eyes, never compromise with your self-respect for anyone or anything in this world. If you don’t have respect for your own self when you look in the mirror, probably no one has it for you even your wife, love, friend or family. “Keep your head up you are so much better than you believe”
