How can you stop a suicide from happening?

The obvious signs

If the person is suffering from Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or depression the risk of suicide can never be ruled out. You need to understand that it is not possible for you to correctly judge their current mind frame, which is often driven by impulsive behavior, extreme mood swings which can be triggered by slightest of problems or in some cases nothing at all. Don’t ignore their behaviors or try and push their illness under the carpet, things doesn’t resolve on their own. The human brain is a complex machine and the slightest of chemical imbalances can overpower the wellness of any individual. People having a mental problem often live under waters of agony, where it becomes difficult to hear their voice or even see them clearly. Never take a suicide warning lightly, seek help of a professional

Not so obvious always…

Look at yourself and people around you once, it is possible that you may be responsible for that concerned person’s mental illness worsening with your actions. Negligence of their illness, poor knowledge of their illness, feeling ashamed of them, taking out your frustrations on them and most importantly forgetting a simple fact that love and happiness can heal almost anything and give that person a new lease of life. Sometimes we pity them so much that we ought to think that their current state is what they deserve and you can’t do anything to help it, try adjusting your attitude for a change.

Facing the Reality

How well are you dealing with their condition, have you accepted their condition or you are living in denial that there is nothing wrong with them and automatically they will get better with time. They say time heals most wounds, but that is not true in every case sometimes the wound is too deep for it to heal on its own. What about the person who is suffering? Have you tried to tell them about their disease, have you taken a progressively constructive step to make their life better? If not do it today. Life doesn’t always give you second chances to correct your mistakes.

What to do?

Every problem in life has one better way to deal with it, the problem you or your closed one’s are dealing with, just needs a new pair of eyes to better understand the disease, for once stop thinking about the so called “social stigma” attached in visiting a psychiatrist or psychologist labeled by those stereotyped, biased and ignorant fools. Think in the best interest of you and your loved ones. Deep down inside us, we all need help at some point of time in our lives from the right person. Stop ignoring your problems, the more we deny the greater is the magnitude of reality. Accept things and raise your hand for help, to get out of the dark whole of suicidal thoughts that you find yourself in, life is precious, it is beautiful, you just need someone to help change where you are looking at, look at the right places and look for the right person to help you.
